Got Dropped in a Ghost Story Chapter 3

September 28, 2026 • 7 min read • 3 views

In the middle of a ghost story where people were dying left and right, a ticket to survival had suddenly appeared.

Just like something out of a movie.

And it wasn’t some false hope, either.

If you bring the lost item mentioned in the announcement, the station staff will guide you out as soon as you meet them…

It really was a way out.

The only problem was that the “lost item” they were asking for was unbelievably grotesque.

“What did it say again? A man in his twenties…?”

“The left eye of a Type-A man in his twenties.”

Go Yeongeun lowered her head, looking completely drained.

“Type-A means… blood type, right?”

“Yes…”

A heavy silence settled over the carriage.

Everyone already looked terrified.

…Should I just ignore this?

If we waited for the correct station, everyone here could escape together.

If we get off at the right station, everyone can survive. But if even one person leaves early, it could throw everyone off and stir up unnecessary conflict.

Unfortunately, things weren’t going to be that simple.

“Still… shouldn’t we try to find it?”

“Yeah. We don’t know what’s going to happen next.”

The others had become so obsessed with following the announcements that they couldn’t simply dismiss this opportunity.

…Fine. Let’s see where this goes.

“Um… how old are you, by the way?”

“Oh, I’m in my thirties.”

“Really? You look younger. Ah, and I’m blood type B, so I’m not a match.”

“Same here…”

One by one, everyone began checking whether they met the conditions of being a Type-A male in his twenties.

No one seemed to fit all the requirements.

Eventually, their attention turned toward me.

“Kim Soleum-ssi, by any chance…?”

I answered without hesitation.

“I’m type AB.”

It was a lie.

My blood type was A.

There’s no reason to tell them I’m a potential target.

If they thought I was hiding information for my own benefit, they might stop trusting me later.

“I see. Then what about you, Baek Saheon-ssi…?”

“Wait.”

Suddenly, the man sitting across from me raised his hand.

His expression was stiff.

“Actually… I fit the conditions exactly.”

“Oh!”

His voice was unusually serious, probably because he feared that admitting it might get him killed.

He doesn’t actually need to worry about that, though.

And it was obvious why he had suddenly decided to admit it.

[This stop is Anger.]

[Anger Station.]

The next station had arrived.

The station where the staff would supposedly be waiting to receive the lost item.

The man who had admitted to being the match swallowed nervously.

“Is… is there really no one else?”

“Yes… apparently not.”

“Damn it.”

Baek Saheon, who had been listening beside me, let out a sigh.

Then he turned toward the man.

[The doors will open on your right.]

“You said you’re blood type A?”

“Y-Yes.”

“That’s unfortunate.”

And then—

His fist flew.

“…?!”

A sickening crunch echoed through the carriage as Baek Saheon’s fist slammed into the left eye of the new hire who had admitted to being an A-type man in his twenties.

Baek Saheon had struck him with the corner of his smartphone, driving it into his eye as though he didn’t care whether it burst.

“Ugh—!”

And just as he collapsed before he could even scream—

[The doors are opening.]

Baek Saheon stepped over the fallen man and jumped out of the train.

“Wh-what the hell…?”

“AAAAAGH!”

“What the fuck are you doing?!”

The others finally reacted, screaming in shock.

Baek Saheon only gave a quiet laugh.

“You idiots. If losing one eye is enough to escape, then why wouldn’t you do it?”

“…!”

“It said we could get off the train.”

Baek Saheon had understood the wording of the announcement perfectly.

—If you have found the lost item, please disembark at the next station and hand it to the station staff.

Even with the earlier hint to pay close attention to the announcements, acting on it like this took an absurd amount of nerve.

“Well, I suppose I shouldn’t expect that kind of judgment from people who want someone else to take responsibility for whether they live or die.”

“What?!”

Baek Saheon calmly continued speaking in the same blunt tone.

He was clearly confident that no one would dare follow him onto the platform.

And he was right.

Everyone here had already seen exactly what happened to people who got off at the wrong station.

“Th-That bastard…”

Go Young-eun’s face turned bright red with rage.

But while everyone else was furious, I felt something click into place.

Ah.

Now I understood.

His nickname was Viper.

The Baek Saheon described in <Dark Exploration Records> suddenly made perfect sense.

I’d assumed that since he was still new to the company, maybe corporate life hadn’t twisted him yet.

Apparently not.

This was simply what he had always been like.

[The doors are closing.]

Outside the train, Baek Saheon waved at us with a smug smile, clearly pleased with his successful escape.

Even if it had cost someone else their left eye.

That bastard…

But there was one thing he didn’t know.

None of that was necessary.

While everyone’s attention was still fixed on Baek Saheon, I quietly reached up toward the luggage rack above the seats.

I definitely saw something up here earlier.

And when I reached farther in, my hand closed around something hidden out of sight, almost like magic.

I pulled it out.

Inside a strange portable lens case was… an eyeball.

And attached to it was a label.

[Type A / Female / 27 / R]

Another possible lost item.

Because a lost item isn’t something you lose from your own body.

It’s something that belongs to someone else, isn’t it?

In reality, the announcement was closer to a treasure hunt.

There were several possible “lost items” hidden in the luggage compartment, and you had to identify the one that perfectly matched the description, then get off the train with it.

There were even records of people who had simply grabbed something at random, handed it over, and somehow managed to escape.

So Baek Saheon just became one of those cases.

But what would happen if he realized that sacrificing that man’s left eye had never been necessary?

The platform doors had already closed.

Just before the train pulled away, my eyes briefly met Baek Saheon’s as he turned toward the station.

I raised the lens case containing the eyeball and held it up where he could clearly see it through the window.

I deliberately covered the label.

That way, only one thing was visible.

The eyeball.

“…!!”

Even through the glass, I saw Baek Saheon’s expression change the instant he understood what he was looking at.

But it was already too late.

[The train is now departing from Anger Station.]

The train began to move.

I turned toward the new hire Baek Saheon had attacked.

Looking at the damage around his left eye, it was obvious what Baek Saheon had been thinking.

He tried to eliminate another possible “correct lost item.”

He must have assumed that only one matching item would be accepted.

Editor’s Note: Baek also matched the criteria and damaged the other man’s eye, thinking only one valid “lost item” could qualify.

I couldn’t exactly blame him for wanting to survive.

Wanting to escape alone was understandable.

But injuring someone else just to improve his own chances?

That was different.

He had crossed the line.

I looked back toward the doors.

From somewhere behind us came the furious sound of someone pounding against the platform doors.

And as the train moved farther away, I thought I could faintly hear a scream echoing across the station—

the sound of someone enduring some strange, unbearable pain.

Then the announcement came.

[The lost item has been successfully returned to the station staff.]
